About Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) is a Japanese term
usually translated as "Universal Life Force".
Rei meaning "Universal" and Ki meaning "Life Force". However the Buddhists
refer to it as CHI.
Reiki energy is a subtle energy. It is different from electricity or
chemical energy and all other kinds of physical energy. Reiki energy comes
from the Universe, we absorb it naturally daily…however we do not absorb
enough. The body is like a battery and Reiki is its power, whilst the
battery will function quite well with just a little charge, it will run much
better when fully charged.
When viewed clairvoyantly, Reiki energy appears to come down from above in a
cone shape and enters the top of the practitioner's head, through the crown
Chakra. After which, it flows through the body and out the hands.
Reiki Treatment
Reiki aids the body’s own repair system and works on all aspects of being:
Spiritual, Ethereal, Mental, Emotional and Physical. Reiki is a total
Healing system, releasing Karmic and emotional blockages thereby speeding the
healing process up.
What someone may experience during a Reiki treatment can vary somewhat from
person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by
all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through
and surrounds them as the Reiki energy encourages them to let go of all
tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings. A state of peace and
well-being is experienced. Others report experiencing heat, cold or tingling
over certain parts of their bodies. Some drift off to sleep or into a light
trance. At the end of the treatment, the person will feel refreshed with a
more positive, balanced outlook.
Some people may undergo what we call a 'Healing Crisis' this usually only
lasts 24/48 hrs and it is just your body detoxifying. Some people experience
mild cold symptoms whilst others may become weepy or even break out in
spots. This usually only happens at the first session and I advise my
clients to drink lots of water to speed the process along.
In a standard treatment, Reiki energy flows from the practitioner's hands
into the client. The client is usually lying on a massage table but
treatments can also be given while the client is seated. The client remains
fully clothed throughout the treatment.
The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the client's body in a
series of hand positions. These include; positions around the head and
shoulders, working down the body and covers all the Chakra points. Other,
more specific positions may be used, based on the client’s needs. Each
position is held for one to five minutes depending on how much Reiki the
client needs. The whole treatment usually lasts between 45 and 90 minutes.
Distance Healing
Distant healing is a Reiki session that is sent from a Reiki practitioner or
master in one location to a person who requested the healing in another
location and the results can be just as good as the results of sessions done
in full physical presence.
This form of healing was developed by Dr. Usui, who also developed Reiki. He
called it 'The Photograph Technique' because he required a photo of the
person receiving Reiki in order to send the Reiki energy to them.
Anyone who is a Reiki Practitioner (with a Reiki II degree) or a Reiki
Master can provide this service.
Distance Healing can also be known under the names 'absent healing' and
'remote healing'. These are all the same form of healing.
Although Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion.
Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs
they may have. This also applies to Reiki clients.
